Your Stove Has a Secret!!!
There's a secret to my stove? Yes, there is, and no, little elves aren't going to suddenly start making your dinner when you tell your stove how beautiful it is. But....that appliance actually does harbor a little secret that you are just going to love when you discover it!
I can't take all the credit for discovering this secret....I just read an article about it that totally surprised the bojangles out of me! And I’ll bet there are plenty of you out there who will also be surprised and say…..”what the heck?” Anyway, enough suspense, so here it is:
If you have a standard style stove, in other words, one with a drawer below the oven….what do you use that drawer for?
Well, like I’ve done for years, you probably store things like cookie sheets, splatter screens, muffin tins, etc., in it. It’s the perfect size for that, and anyway, what else would you use it for?
Answer: It’s actually a Warming Drawer. That’s right. It’s supposed to be used to keep hot foods at serving temperatures while you’re readying other things for that meal you’re about to serve.
What a fantastic idea. Now you don’t have to wonder how you’re going to keep that platter of turkey hot while you’re still whipping the mashed potatoes, or scurrying everything to the table.
Or what to do if you’re guests are late, or still enjoying the pre dinner wine and hors de ouerves you made with such care.
Cover your dishes of food with a little aluminum foil and place them in the “warming drawer” to keep them hot and let your guests finish their wine and wipe out those hors de ouerves. And for those guests who are running a tad late….so what! You are the ingenious hostess who knows just how to keep that special meal hot until they arrive.
So.....happy cooking and warming!!!!!
